Health is surely a concern for people these days. In fact, over the last few years, people have become more conscious about their health, their meals and diet, all thanks to health awareness of various media. Women, in the modern world, are far more conscious about their health these days than they were a few years before. While most of them seek to exercising and yoga to maintain a good health, some even consult professional dieticians and experts to seek expert guidance on maintaining a good health. But, in the process of fulfilling our dreams to meeting the expectations of family, making a career, etc, women often make some harmful health mistakes that can lead to a deterioration of good health. Here are the 9 most common health-related mistakes that modern women make and which should be avoided.
1. Falling short of sleep
Now this is one of the gravest problems of today’s generation that both men and women face. In fact, it is one of the most health mistakes one can make! Sleep is extremely important for the body to ensure effective digestion and also to deal with exhaustion, anxiety or depression, etc. However, due to a busy lifestyle and in the race to stand out from the crowd and achieve their career goals, people often tend to compromise on their sleep. It is thus important for women to ensure they get at least 7 hours of sleep every day in order to deal with grave health problems.
2. Skipping exercise
While too much of exercise every day can be harmful to health, even avoiding it completely can cause health problems. Although most women fall short of time to exercise since they have multiple responsibilities to shoulder and tasks to accomplish, it is advisable to spare a few minutes every day to exercise. Exercise helps keep you fit and away from health problems and also keeps the body in perfect shape. With adequate exercise every day, you can deal with stress and depression, poor digestion, obesity and much more. The best and simple exercises that women can practice every day are walking, running, jogging, yoga, cycling, swimming, etc.
3. Too much exercising
Exercise is, of course, good for your health. Modern women, therefore, tend to exercise a lot to burn their extra calories which can be harmful to the body and good health. Exercising too much can lead to tiredness and exhaustion and even cause poor muscle recovery or injury. Moreover, it can also become a cause of depression or anxiety. On an average, 3-60 minutes of exercise is enough for a woman to stay healthy and fit.
4. Not having meals on time
You may claim that you do not skip your meals or also that you consume a lot of vegetables and fruits in your diet every day. But it is also important for a woman to consume her meals on time. Fluctuating your time of having lunch, meals or dinner every day increases the food craving of the body and can also lead to severe indigestion and poor health.
5. Not consuming enough fat
Now this is something that is most common among modern women. In the attempt to attain a size zero figure and look slim and trim, women often tend to consume less fat or no fat at all. However, it is a matter of fact that if fats are consumed properly, they do not cause weight gain. In fact, they are essential constituents that our body needs to function properly and eliminating them from your diet can surely be harmful. It is highly advisable to consume olives, nuts and nuts butter, avocado seeds, etc in your diet. Also, as far as possible, avoid animal fats and oils.
6. Not consuming enough carbohydrates
Just like proteins, adding carbohydrates to your everyday diet is important. Inadequate intake of these essential elements can lead to mood swings, fatigue, nausea, constipation and headache and also to overeating. It is essential to maintain the ratio of carbohydrates in our meals, you shouldn’t consume less or more. Consider adding whole grains, seeds, nuts, beans, vegetables and fruits to your diet. Also, avoid cakes, dried fruits, breads, jams, cereals, etc.
7. Not consuming enough protein
When we consume our meals every day, most of us are unaware as to how much calories or nutrition we gain. Protein is very important for our body and for both men and women. It not only helps in controlling the blood sugar but also keeps your body in shape by burning a few extra pounds. And women, of course, crave to lose their extra weight and appear in good shape always. This is why it is vital to incorporate protein in our diet every day. Although most people disagree on this, but non-vegetarian food offers more protein than a vegetarian diet. So try to incorporate eggs and other protein-rich foods in your diet. For vegetarians, milk, soya, buckwheat, hemp, chia seeds, etc are good options.
8. Not eating whole foods
Most women in the modern world, in spite of consuming their meals in time and not skipping any, suffer from health problems. Yes, it is important for all of us to have our meals on time but our health also largely depends on what we have in our meals. Whole foods such as whole grains, nuts, beans, seeds, vegetables and fruits should necessarily be a part of our everyday diet. These whole foods help to improve the metabolism rate of our body and keep us fit to perform various activities in a day. For women, this is of utmost importance since they are supposed to shoulder professional as well as household responsibilities. So make sure to consume enough vegetables and fruits every day.
9. Skipping meals
Skipping meals is another most common health mistakes that women these days make which can be extremely harmful to the body. Most modern and working women these days tend to skip meals due to work pressure, depression or mood swings or many other reasons. However, it is never a good idea to skip meals for any reason whatsoever. This may cause severe health problems such as indigestion, improper metabolism, tiredness or drowsiness, etc. Moreover, skipping even a single meal in a day can lead you to overeat at a time which can cause weight gain and many other problems. We, of course, do not want to gain extra weight and lose out on our beauty, right ladies?
